Brunch in Richmond

Sunday brunch in Richmond is always a big deal. There are so many options to choose from, and Mother’s Day adds an extra layer of fabulous dining experiences to the menu.

The most popular and traditional venue is the elegant Jefferson Hotel for Champagne Brunch. Featuring rich, abundant and seasonal items expertly prepared, it is no wonder that reservations sell out quickly.

For something more casual and eclectic, visit Strawberry Street Café in The Fan for their famous Bathtub Brunch Bar. Yes, they really do serve eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, grits and pastries alongside their fresh and plentiful salad bar in a clawfoot bathtub. This is a unique Richmond café that your mom should see.

Tarrant’s Café is another delicious choice to enjoy a delightful brunch with your mom in a beautifully restored pharmacy downtown. In addition to their regular weekend brunch menu, they will have some surprise Mother’s Day additions. Be sure to enjoy one of their signature mimosas to toast your appreciation to Mom.

Mother’s Day Concerts

Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens is hosting a concert with Glenroy Baily & Co. from 1 to 4 p.m. with garden admission. The Children’s Garden will have activities where children can make Mother’s Day cards out of flowers or recycled items. Be inspired by ‘A Million Blooms’ tour of the gardens. As a bonus this year, the Butterflies LIVE! Exhibit will be open during Mother’s Day.

Forest Hill Park’s free concert series starts on Mother’s Day with an alt-country performance by The Atkinsons. Enjoy a sunset picnic on the lawn from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mother’s Day Tours

The Museum District is coordinating an open house tour to invite guests to view some of the most beautiful and historic homes boasted by this desirable neighborhood. The tour meets at the Hospitality Center at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on North Boulevard and is from 1 to 6 p.m.

For a fancy and quaint afternoon tea, plan a road trip back in time with our courteous Virginia car service to visit Berkeley Plantation in Charles City from 2 to 4 p.m. Admission includes tea, finger sandwiches, a guided tour of the plantation home and a walk through the spring gardens.

If you prefer to stay closer to town, make a reservation with Agecroft Hall, a 16th-century Tudor manor relocated above the James River in the 1920s, for their afternoon tea from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tea includes sandwiches and sweet treats, music and a guided home tour.
