Lush, rolling hills, historical landmarks, and an abundance of world-class country clubs make Virginia a standout state for weddings. Choosing the perfect spot to get married and hold your reception is critical. Most brides have held the wedding of their dreams in their heads a thousand times over, but there are a lot of moving parts in making those dreams into reality.
That’s where the perfect venue comes into play. The best wedding venues in Virginia have a combination of a handful of things.
First, the venue should be beautiful. You’ll want stunning photographic backdrops, whether that means heart-stirring landscapes or striking manmade architecture.
Of course, you’ll also want to make sure the staff at your venue is professional, prepared, and experienced. Any wedding planner worth their salt will be running the show, but the venue staff will play a major role in ensuring things go smoothly.
There are plenty of great venues to choose from around Virginia, but only the best balance visual appeal, top-tier staff, and all the little extras that combine to create a unique and memorable wedding. With that, here are James Limo’s best wedding venues in different parts of the state.
In Central Virginia
Fairview Farm in Powhatan
Originally built in 1915, the Fairview Farm promises a scenic wedding nestled in Piedmont’s rolling hills.
This fully renovated farm is a far cry from hard country living. The Blanton family has revamped the amenities for picture-perfect rustic weddings. The highlight of Fairview farm is the fully furnished, 3,000 sq. ft. barn complete with gorgeous antique chandeliers, lofted seating, and a giant stone fireplace. Your guests will love the balance between upscale, white cloth amenities and good, old-fashioned farm fun.
James Limo’s Favorite Feature: Look out from the barn’s lofted balconies for a breathtaking view of the Lynchburg mountain range. The barn’s upper level is also a good vantage point for your guests to enjoy the revelry indoors while catching a brief respite from the action.
Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyard
Pippin Hill is one of Virginia’s newest wineries, offering the best in modern experiences for your wedding party. Even though everything is brand spankin’ new, the winery has a classic, tenured feel thanks to rustic features, mountain location, and farm-to-table foods.
Your guests are sure to appreciate the details that go into making Pippin Hill a truly special place to get married.
James Limo’s Favorite Feature: The late night food options are a whole lot of fun. Your guests will love grabbing a Croque Monsieur to go after a long night of cutting rugs in the Pippin Hill party barn.
Near Richmond
The Mill at Fine Creek

The Mill at Fine Creek is the perfect destination for ceremonies with historical flair. Per its name, the venue sits on a ruined mill dating back to the 1730s.
Don’t let those few hundred years fool you, though; Fine Creek Mill includes all the modern conveniences you’ll want for your special day. Reserve the Mill’s on-site stylist and prepare for your time to shine in their provided Bridal Suite.
James Limo’s Favorite Feature: The local flavor! Chefs Lisa Benusa and Mark Henry create each menu specifically for your wedding. Their delectable preparations are all made from scratch, with most including seasonal ingredients from the Mill’s herb and vegetable garden.
To the East
Cypress Point Country Club
Cypress Point Country Clubis an ideal location for a stress-free country club wedding in Chesapeake. As you would expect from a top-tier country club, Cypress Point’s service is without parallel. Their professional staff is capable of dealing quickly and discretely with any issues that may pop up on your wedding day.
James Limo’s Favorite Feature: Cypress Point has golf tournaments available that will keep your guests entertained throughout the weekend. The coastal coarse is tough, but offers some of the most rewarding play in the state.
To the West
Riverview Manor
Seated on nearly 200 acres of pastoral land, Riverview Manor’s picturesque scenery makes for a remarkable mountain wedding. You and your guests will love the riverside locale and breathtaking mountain sunsets. This rustic locale is not without modern services, however. Riverview’s staff will work closely with you to cater a unique event to your exact specifications.
Be sure to book for spring or fall! The distant forest-lined hills are at their best when they’re saturated with seasonal hues.
James Limo’s Favorite Feature: The low, rolling mountains outside Riverview Manor create a truly incredible backdrop for your ceremony.
To the North
Early Mountain Vineyards
Intimate, elegant, and serene, Early Mountain Vineyards is everything you could want in a winery wedding.
The vineyards’ verdant hills make for incredible photographic backdrops. It takes a lot of land to grow good grapes, and EMV’s wide-open spaces translate to plenty of guest parking. Brides to be will love prepping in the smartly decorated bridal cottage.
James Limo’s Favorite Feature: The patio just outside the main event hall commands an amazing panoramic view of the vineyard lawn, making it an ideal spot to get a breath of fresh air in between the Tighten Up and Cha Cha Slide.
To the South
The Berry Hill Resort and Conference Center in South Boston
The Berry Hill Resort, a certified National Historic Landmark, is a prime marriage location for history buffs. It was originally one of the largest plantations in all of Virginia, and most of the property, including the temple-like big house, survived the Civil War – not something most plantation homes can claim.
As a wedding venue, Berry Hill is full-service. Their on-site executive chef will work with you and your wedding planner to draw out menus exactly to your wishes.
James Limo’s Favorite Feature: The big house, which is Berry Hill’s original plantation home, is a magnificent example of Greek revival architecture that lends an air of grandeur to your wedding.
No matter where you plan on getting married in Virginia, trust James Limousine to deliver you and your guest safely, comfortably, and in style.
