Best Restaurants for a Weekend Visit to Charlottesville

March 27, 2018 | Charlottesville limo service, Virginia limousine service | Randy Allen

The city of Charlottesville is always a popular destination for a weekend getaway, offering easy access to the beautiful Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains, the site of the historic Monticello plantation originally occupied by Thomas Jefferson only 3 miles away, wineries galore, and the historic University of Virginia campus on the doorstep. Here are our picks of the best places to eat when you’re in town for your next visit to this historic city.

  • The Ivy Inn Restaurant

Located just a mile outside of the University of Virginia campus, this historic home houses a popular restaurant with a focus on locally inspired and seasonal American cuisine. The restaurant offers a choice of 4 dining rooms and a large garden patio, all offering customers a unique and elegant Charlottesville dining experience. The present restaurant has been owned and operated by the Vangelopoulos family since 1995 and is extremely popular all year round – bookings are highly recommended if you plan on dining here during your stay!

  • Fleurie

Modern, upscale French cuisine is the order of the day at Fleurie – this intimate restaurant is well-known for its intricately presented and truly indulgent dishes, such as Foie Gras and Passionfruit Mousse, Spiced Lamb Carpaccio, Butter Poached Lobster, and succulent Roasted Beef Tenderloin with Gnocchi Parisienne, Creamed Leeks, and Hollandaise. It is definitely the place for a special occasion rather than a quick in-and-out dinner – the 6-course tasting menu will set you back around $85, with additional cost for wine pairings.

  • Citizen Burger Bar

For a more informal bite to eat, try Citizen Burger Bar located on E Main Street. This popular eatery turns out crowd-pleasing burgers and boasts a selection of over 110 beers, with a focus on locally-sourced, top-tier ingredients. The atmosphere is relaxed, with exposed brick walls and bar seating, and the emphasis here is on kicking back and relaxing with friends while enjoying a tasty (and high quality) bite to eat.

  • Bodo’s Bagels

This legendary Charlottesville eatery is a great option if you are looking to pick up a quick snack for lunch. They specialize in serving sandwiches, salads, and freshly backed NY style bagels within 3 locations across the city. Locally owned and operated since 1988, this Charlottesville institution focuses on quick, easy, and, most importantly, delicious fare at an affordable price.

  • Lampo

This uber-cool new restaurant offers up genuine Neapolitan-style pizzas in a modern, rustic-chic setting. The restaurant only seats 21 so expect to wait at busy times, but the results are well worth it. Try the Margherita D.O.C. for a true taste of an Italian classic, with San Marzano tomatoes, Mozzarella di Bufala, basil, sea salt, and a drizzle of olive oil for good measure. For those looking for a taste of something a bit more adventurous try the spicy Diavola, which is topped with N’Duja sausage and Calabrian Chilli.

For an extra special dining experience, why not treat yourself and your party to our luxury Charlottesville limo service? Our friendly, professional chauffeurs will transport you in style from door to door, to give you a truly unforgettable weekend.
