Healthy travel – 6 smart eating options for business travelers

March 7, 2017 | business travel, Richmond limousine service, Virginia limousine service | Randy Allen

Our Virginia car service personnel knows a thing or two about what being on the road and eating while traveling means, and we understand it’s not easy. Making wise, healthy decisions is easier said than done when it comes to travel, and that’s why so many of us fail miserably. It’s just so simple and tempting to grab a calorie-laden Danish at the coffee shop in the middle of the airport than it is to choose a yogurt and some fruit. We all do it, but we’ve learned a thing or two from our business travelers about making healthy choices while traveling for business.

Pack Your Own Snacks

Dried fruit, mixed nuts, and even energy bars are all great options for those who love to make healthy choices while traveling. You can pack them in your carry-on luggage or handbag, eat them on your flight, and you can skip the lines at the airport kiosks and restaurants knowing your snack is far better for you than the ones everyone else is consuming.

Healthy Fast Food

Instead of getting the number one and a large soda at any fast food airport location or near your hotel, opt for a low-fat yogurt or any of the fruit being offered to consumers. It’s good for you, provides just the right amount of energy, and it helps you make better decisions regarding your good health.

Drink Up

Water is your best friend on the road. We keep bottled water in all our cars at our Virginia car service. When you choose our limo service in Richmond, you have plenty of water at your disposal. If you’ve been in the air, it’s a good idea to take advantage of the water we offer so you don’t become dehydrated. Being at a high altitude for long periods of time does that, and your body might mistake your dehydration for hunger. Drink more water while on business.

Exchange Your Bread

Sandwiches are the favorite food of choice for many business travelers at lunches and business meetings, and they’re not all that healthy. Skip the mayo and the white bread. Opt for a wrap or ask for whole wheat or grain bread instead of white. Pile it high with vegetables and skip the fattening meats and condiments to make a healthier choice.

Ask for Smaller Portions

Dining out is commonplace when you’re on business, but your big mistake isn’t what you order. The mistake is how much you order. Your best bet is to ask for the small portion of your dish. Chances are good the small portion is much too big, but it’s less than the big portion. This means fewer calories and less chance of you eating it all.

Skip the Additions

Coffee is everywhere on business trips, and you’re not doing yourself any favors drinking cup after cup of coffee filled with cream and sugar. It’s a good idea to leave it black or skip the fattening cream for something a little healthier and less calorie-filled.

Business travel doesn’t mean you have to gain weight and feel gross. By making wise eating decisions, you’ll have more energy, you’ll sleep better, and you’ll feel better. Do yourself the added favor of packing your workout clothes and head to the gym each day while you’re gone.
