The Carry-On Challenge: Packing Hacks

May 16, 2017 | business travel, Richmond limousine service, Virginia limousine service | Randy Allen

It’s so tempting to pack just a few additional items in your luggage, but you run into so many issues when you do this. We know all about the importance of packing the appropriately sized carry-on bag prior to any flight. Our limo service in Richmond handles the transportation needs of many business clients, and their goal is to get everything they need into one carry-on during any short business trip. This eliminates time at the check-in counter, lost luggage, and the time spent waiting for luggage to appear after exiting a flight. Business travelers we work with know every moment counts, and they know every belonging counts. An oversized carry-on might mean paying an additional fee and going through the gate check process. Our carry-on challenge can help you overcome the most common problems with a few simple packing hacks.

Carry A Big Handbag

Perhaps you feel a large handbag is one that’s too bulky to carry every day, but it’s perfect on a flight. For example, the Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM is a large handbag that can carry your personal items, your laptop, tablet, books, shoes, and even a change of clothes along with snacks if you prefer. Carry this large bag in addition to your carry-on suitcase for maximum storage opportunities. Your airline, after all, does allow you to carry on one piece of luggage and a personal item. Maximize your personal item for your packing needs.

Go Dark

When we pick up our Virginia limo clients, we find that many of them prefer to pack this way. They choose one or two dark blazers, slacks, and dresses, and they add a few minor accessories to change out as they travel. This might mean one black dress they can wear to dinner every night with a different necklace, a blazer, or even a neutral sweater. It also means packing one pair of heels, one pair of comfortable travel flats, one pair of jeans, and a few tops to mix and match. This allows you to create multiple outfits out of just a few of your most basic pieces.

Use all the Space

If you have multiple items with additional space such as shoes, you can put things inside. Put your socks in your shoes. Put your small personal items in a Ziploc bag and place them inside shoes to save space in the rest of the carry-on bag you’re packing. It’s also helpful to carry your coat onto the plane or simply wear it. It takes up so much space in your bag, but no one will stop you from wearing it on a flight. It’s not fun to carry, but it leaves you more space.

Our job is to make sure our clients are cared for, and we do that in every aspect of travel from helping you pack the perfect carry-on to helping you get to and from the airport in our luxury vehicles. Our team of professional chauffeurs is dedicated to making the most of our time, and that’s why we want to help you do the same.
